The post holder will be a registered nurse, ideally with experience in vascular nursing and lower limb care for patients with chronic arterial and venous disease. They should have evidence of continuing professional development and possess strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. The role requires developing skills to practice as an autonomous practitioner, making clinical decisions and management plans for patients with vascular conditions in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, working with the lead nurse, consultants, and multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will maintain high standards of care, underpinning practice with current research and evidence-based knowledge, and support research and development activities to advance the vascular service. They will work with the Vascular Nurse Consultant and Vascular Surgeons to develop the service and undertake specific procedures and training related to vascular conditions.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, Priority, and 'At Risk' status applicants, including NHS At Risk staff across Devon with recent relevant experience as per the Person Specification.

The post holder will be responsible for the daily clinical care of vascular patients, providing advice, support, and interventions to patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team regarding vascular care.

* Practice autonomously, leading and evaluating nursing care, ensuring patient needs are assessed and met according to policies.
* Demonstrate clinical competence in vascular management, delivering specialized care and treatments.
* Act as a resource and advisor on vascular management, providing expert advice to patients, carers, colleagues, and external agencies.
* Use approved manual handling strategies for patient safety.
* Monitor and evaluate care, applying best practices and evidence to select appropriate management methods.
* Maintain clinical excellence aligned with UHP Trust values and professional accountability.
* Initiate evidence-based wound management according to the Devon Wound Care Formulary.
* Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors within the designated area.
* Work with the vascular MDT to formulate, implement, and review clinical policies and procedures, including managing the AAA UHP threshold database in conjunction with the Peninsula AAA screening Programme.
* Disseminate multidisciplinary policies to support and expand practice across the trust.
