Overview
ALS is seeking an experienced and commercially minded IT Manager for the UK & Ireland to act as the strategic link between the business and IT. This role combines strong stakeholder engagement with hands-on operational responsibility, ensuring IT services are reliable, compliant and closely aligned to business needs across UK & Ireland locations. You will be a trusted partner to local leadership, accountable for day-to-day IT operations while collaborating with regional and global IT teams to support ALS’s mission of delivering data-driven insights for a safer and healthier world.

The Day to Day
* Act as the primary IT point of contact for UK & Ireland business stakeholders
* Build strong relationships with the business, translating operational needs into effective IT services and improvements
* Provide Level 3 desktop support and ensure high-quality end-user computing services
* Manage location-based IT operations, including IT asset lifecycle management, printers, conference room AV and IT liaison for lab equipment
* Coordinate IT support for office builds, moves and changes (BMC), including infrastructure and end-user set-up
* Deliver hands-and-feet support for infrastructure teams, including hardware installations, patching and server room activities
* Manage local IT operational budgets, procurement and cost optimisation
* Oversee relationships with local IT vendors and service providers, monitoring SLAs and service performance
* Ensure compliance with global IT standards, internal policies and external regulations, supporting audits and risk assessments
* Maintain accurate operational documentation and reporting
* Lead and mentor local IT support resources and collaborate closely with regional and global IT, infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity and project teams
The Essentials
* Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or a related discipline
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in IT operations, service management or business relationship management
* Strong working knowledge of ITIL, IT service management and infrastructure support
* Proven experience managing site-based IT operations and engaging with business stakeholders
* Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
* Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery
Desirable certifications
* ITIL Foundation (or higher)
* BRMP (Business Relationship Management Professional)
* PMP or PRINCE2
* ISO/IEC 20000 (or equivalent)
