This is a key support position within the Firearms Training Department, also providing essential assistance to Operational teams. As the dedicated full‑time Chronicle Administrator, you will undertake a range of administrative duties to support the Firearms Training Team, with a particular focus on accurate data management within the Chronicle system.
Based at Essex Police Headquarters, you will work closely with Firearms Training Instructors and build strong working relationships across the Training Team, Operational Teams, 7 Force Armed Policing, and external partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Maintaining, reviewing, and quality‑assuring the Chronicle database to ensure accurate and complete training records for all accredited officers, including both Firearms and Taser qualifications.
2. Recording all armed deployments - planned and spontaneous, across the county to maintain an up‑to‑date and reliable operational history.
3. Researching, extracting, and presenting data from Chronicle for a range of reports requested by Senior Officers.
4. Supporting the Firearms Training Team in the coordination and delivery of training events.
You must be able to demonstrate:
5. Previous administrative experience, with strong office and organisational skills.
6. The ability to plan, organise, and prioritise your own workload, while managing interruptions and multiple demands.
7. A good standard of general education or equivalent relevant experience.
8. Experience of working both independently and as part of a wider team.
9. Good computer literacy and confident use of software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email systems, and the intranet.
10. A willingness and ability to learn new systems, which should be clearly evidenced in your application.

This is an Office‑Based Agile Worker position. You will work predominantly (60% or more) from your designated team area at Headquarters, with the remainder of your time worked from home or other police sites where appropriate.
Flexible working arrangements, including some home working, may be agreed following an assessment of operational needs and your suitability for home‑based work. Where home working is approved, you will still be required to attend your contractual workplace regularly.
Depending on your current vetting level and security clearances, you may be required to complete additional vetting information during the recruitment process.
