The Role:
We are seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented System Control Engineer to lead the development and validation of OBM (On-Board Monitoring) and OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) functions within the vehicle control system architecture. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, robust fault detection, and seamless integration of diagnostic strategies across powertrain and chassis domains.
You will work closely with software developers, calibration engineers, and regulatory teams to define system requirements, develop control logic, and validate diagnostic performance both in simulation and on-vehicle environments.
Area of Responsibility
Function Development
* Define and manage system-level requirements for OBM/OBD functions in compliance with global regulations (e.g., Euro 6, CARB, EPA)
* Develop control strategies and diagnostic algorithms using Simulink/Stateflow and embedded C
* Collaborate with software architecture and calibration teams to implement and refine fault detection logic
* Ensure traceability between requirements, design, implementation, and validation artifacts
Validation & Testing
* Plan and execute validation activities for OBM/OBD functions in MIL, SIL, HIL, and vehicle environments
* Conduct fault injection testing, monitor diagnostic coverage, and verify fault response behavior
* Support on-vehicle testing, data logging, and debugging using tools such as Vector CANape, CANalyzer, and ETAS INCA
* Analyze test results and drive resolution of issues related to diagnostic performance or system integration
Compliance & Documentation
* Maintain documentation for regulatory submissions, internal reviews, and software release processes
* Support audits and technical reviews related to diagnostic function readiness and compliance
* Interface with homologation and regulatory teams to ensure timely delivery of compliant diagnostic features
Knowledge / Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
* Strong experience in automotive diagnostics, control systems, or embedded software development
* Strong understanding of OBM/OBD regulations, fault detection logic, and vehicle communication protocols (CAN, UDS, KWP2000)
* Proficiency in Simulink/Stateflow, embedded C, and calibration/debugging tools (e.g., CANape, INCA)
* Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion)
* Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Master’s degree or equivalent experience in vehicle systems or control engineering
* Familiarity with ISO 26262, ASPICE, and cybersecurity standards
* Experience with HIL platforms and automated test environments
* Exposure to electrified powertrains, hybrid systems, or advanced emissions control technologies
* Certification in diagnostics or functional safety (e.g., ISTQB, ISO 26262 Functional Safety Engineer)
