PBS Support Worker – Complex Needs (2:1 Support) Location: Clacton on Sea Shifts: Day shifts Waking Nights Available Contract: Full Time/ Part Time Join My Team as a PBS Support Worker I am a happy and sociable 58 year old woman living in Clacton and I’m looking for positive, kind, and outgoing Support Workers to join my team and support me to live the life I enjoy. I have Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD), Cerebral Palsy, and Asthma, and I am a wheelchair user. Sometimes I find expressive communication difficult, so I need support workers who are patient, good listeners, and able to communicate calmly and clearly. This is a 1:1 support role where consistency, kindness, and a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach are very important. Why This Role Is Different Unlike many care roles, this position focuses on supporting one individual, allowing you to: ✔ Build a meaningful and supportive relationship ✔ Deliver truly person-centred care ✔ Support someone to enjoy community activities and family connections ✔ Use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches in practice About the Role As my Support Worker, you will help me live a happy, active and fulfilling life both at home and in the community. I enjoy getting out and about, including: Trips into town Visiting McDonald’s or the fish and chip shop Travelling by train to Southend to visit my family Your role will involve supporting me with both physical needs and emotional wellbeing, ensuring I feel safe, comfortable, and supported. At times I may present with behaviours of concern, so it is important that you can remain calm, patient, and supportive, using a Positive Behaviour Support approach. Key Responsibilities Delivering Person-Centred Support Supporting with personal care and daily routines Providing emotional reassurance and companionship Supporting communication with patience and understanding Physical Support Supporting a wheelchair user both at home and in the community Assisting with manual handling (training provided) Ensuring comfort and safety throughout the day Community Access A big part of this role is supporting me to enjoy outings and social activities, including: Shopping trips Visits to cafés and takeaway restaurants Travelling to visit family Community activities and days out Positive Behaviour Support At times I may experience emotional distress or behaviours of concern, so you will need to: Remain calm and supportive Use Positive Behaviour Support strategies Follow behaviour support plans Help maintain a structured and supportive environment This Role Is Ideal For Someone Who Has a happy and outgoing personality Is patient, kind, and emotionally resilient Enjoys supporting people to access the community and social activities Can remain calm in challenging situations Wants to build a consistent, meaningful support relationship Essential Skills & Qualities We are looking for someone who is: ✔ Compassionate and patient ✔ Emotionally resilient ✔ A good listener and communicator ✔ Reliable and consistent ✔ Willing to learn and work in a person-centred way Desirable Experience Experience in the following areas would be beneficial: Supporting individuals with learning disabilities or mental health needs Experience with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Supporting wheelchair users Experience in health and social care NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care Full UK Driving Licence – desirable Training and Support Full training will be provided including: ✔ Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) ✔ Personal care training ✔ Manual handling training ✔ Ongoing professional development You will also receive ongoing support from a dedicated management team.
