Emotional Literacy Support Assistant Job Title: Emotional Literacy Support Assistant Location: High Wycombe Start Date: October 2025 Contract Type: Part-time (Afternoons only) We are seeking a fully qualified Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to deliver targeted emotional and social support to pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (ages 4–11). This rewarding role involves working both one-to-one and in small group settings with children who may be experiencing emotional difficulties. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils develop their emotional awareness, resilience, and coping strategies, enabling them to thrive both personally and academically. You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to emotional well-being. About the Role: Plan and deliver targeted emotional literacy interventions, tailored to the individual needs of pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2 Support children 1:1 and in small groups to develop emotional awareness, self-regulation, confidence, and social skills Establish clear routines and use structured resources such as visual aids, social stories, and emotion coaching techniques to support understanding and emotional development Work in close collaboration with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to ensure a consistent, joined-up approach to pupil well-being Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and contributing to support plans in line with EHCP or pastoral targets Implement evidence-based strategies to help pupils manage anxiety, build resilience, improve peer relationships, and cope with change The ideal candidate will: ELSA qualification (Essential) Proven experience supporting children in a primary school setting Confident in delivering emotional literacy interventions to individuals and small groups Committed, empathetic, and passionate about promoting children’s emotional well-being Why Work with Supply Desk?
