Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Team Manager to take the next step in their career within a well-established and forward-thinking local authority. You'll be joining a motivated, lively, and fast-paced Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) dedicated to improving children's lives, keeping them safe from harm, and ensuring they have the best possible start. As an Assistant Team Manager, you will support the Team Manager in the leadership and day-to-day management of the MASH, ensuring children receive the right service at the right time.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and develop a pod of qualified Social Workers and Contact & Referral Officers, providing reflective, high-quality supervision.
* Lead on risk assessment and decision-making, ensuring all referrals are reviewed, triaged, and responded to within statutory timescales.
* Chair strategy discussions and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary partners to safeguard children effectively.
* Provide professional guidance and high-quality advice to partners and families, ensuring responses are timely, consistent, and child-centred.
* Support the effective transfer of cases to Assessment Teams with clear risk assessments and recommendations.
* Promote robust practice standards, helping to improve outcomes, manage performance, and ensure value for money.
* Assist the Team Manager with ongoing service development, contributing to training, staff induction, and quality assurance activity.

Qualifications & Requirements
* Substantial experience in statutory children's social care, including either supervisory experience within MASH or significant frontline MASH practice.
* Recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
* Innovative and solution-focused, with a passion for improving outcomes for children.
* Confident in identifying and responding to risk, and skilled in child protection decision-making.
* A strong communicator, able to translate complex information clearly and manage challenging conversations with professionalism.
* Collaborative, working effectively with partners, families, and colleagues to secure the best possible outcomes.
* Resilient and organised, able to manage competing priorities with energy and commitment.
* Motivated to support and develop others, enabling staff to perform at their best through supportive supervision and performance management.

Rewards & Additional Information
* Market premium of £2,750 per annum (in addition to the salary advertised).
* Relocation packages are available if you are interested in relocating to Buckinghamshire.
* Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; applicants are required to declare all unspent convictions and conditional cautions as well as all spent convictions and adult cautions that are not protected.
