Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the well‑established Midlands Metabolic Bone Centre, which incorporates a Bone Densitometry Scanning (DXA) service, a Medical Metabolic Bone Clinic, Nurse Led Osteoporosis clinics; and the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS). The bone density scanning service performs over 5000 scans per year, using low dose X-rays to diagnose or assess the risk of osteoporosis, a health condition that weakens bones and makes them more likely to break. The service performs a full range of bone densitometry investigations for various specialities within the Trust and for GPs, is part of a fracture liaison service, and supports research studies. The Bone Densitometry Service is currently located at Bradwell Hospital and is equipped with 2 Hologic Horizon A bone densitometers., The post holder will be required to work in collaboration with members of the Midland Metabolic Bone Centre team, contibuting to the promotion and provision of high quality care for patients seeking advice, screening and treatment in bone health and fracture prevention. The post holder will support the team and work autonomously where appropraite, duties to include Phlebotomy, Blood Pressure, Weight, Height and Body Mass Index calculations, chaperoning, assisting and preparing for nurse led clinics, administrative duties including data inputting.


Role

We are looking for an innovative Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to work within the service. Are you a team player, flexible and forward thinking? Are you able to meet deadlines and follow instructions? Do you have a good telephone manner, great computer and database skills? If you're qualified to NVQ Level 2 or 3, with relevant experience in a hospital or care setting, with good admin skills we are looking for you.


Responsibilities

* Collaboration with the Midland Metabolic Bone Centre team to promote and provide high quality care for patients seeking advice, screening and treatment in bone health and fracture prevention.
* Support the team and work autonomously where appropriate.
* Perform phlebotomy.
* Record and calculate blood pressure, weight, height and body mass index.
* Chaperone patients and assist in nurse‑led clinics.
* Prepare for and assist nurse‑led clinics.
* Administrative duties including data inputting.


Qualifications

* NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent).
* Relevant experience in a hospital or care setting.
* Good admin skills.
* Good telephone manner, great computer and database skills.

Work Details

The post is 37.5 hours per week and will be predominantly based at Bradwell Hospital. It is part of the wider Rheumatology Service and, as such, will have access to mentorship and support from a range of multi‑professional colleagues within the specialty.
