Pay: £35,000.00 - £45,000.00 per year
Job description:
Business Development Manager - HR
£35,000 – £45,000 base + commission (OTE c.£67,000 – with no cap, the more you sell the more you earn!)
About Us
We’re a boutique HR consultancy with a big personality and an even bigger impact. At The HR Consultants, we help organisations across the UK create workplaces their people love – with no HR blah blah blah.
Our services span the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, HR advice, administration, training, people strategy and everything in between. We’ve been growing fast for the last 6 years, supporting hundreds of businesses and more than 50,000 employees – and we’re not slowing down.
That’s where you come in.
* We’ve got the marketing campaigns and enquiries.
* We’ve got the HR experts.
* We need you to bring in the clients and grow our impact even further.
The Role
Reporting to the MD, you’ll play a pivotal role in scaling our consultancy as we double the number of subscription clients we support by 2026. This is a hands-on sales role where you’ll balance client meetings, proposals, and pipeline management with building lasting relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
· Owning our revenue target for new business and securing new clients across subscriptions, HR projects, and recruitment services.
· Growing existing accounts through client reviews and cross-selling opportunities.
· Running sales meetings with SME business owners, uncovering their HR needs, and matching them with the right solutions.
· Implementing client nurture sequences to balance relationship care with proactive upselling.
· Closing deals (and ringing the sales bell to celebrate wins with the team!).
· Keeping our CRM up to date and ensuring pipeline visibility for the leadership team.
What We’re Looking For
Must-haves:
* A solid track record in B2B sales, ideally within services (HR, recruitment, consultancy, training, SaaS or similar).
* Experience selling into SME business owners or senior leaders.
* Consultative, relationship-led selling style – you know how to listen, ask great questions, and build trust.
* Confident running meetings on MS Teams and face-to-face.
* Commercially minded, target-driven, and comfortable owning a sales number.
Nice-to-haves / Personality fit:
* Positive energy and enthusiasm (definitely not a mood-hoover!).
* Strong organisational skills to balance multiple prospects, proposals, and follow-ups.
* Collaborative and fun to work with – we’re a small team and culture matters.
* Hungry for growth and motivated by earning commission.
* Comfortable getting to grips with HR services (you don’t need to be an HR expert – but you do need curiosity and commercial understanding).
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
· Hybrid working – office in Stratford-upon-Avon Mon–Wed, home the other 2 days.
· A role where you’ll have genuine ownership of revenue and the chance to make your mark.
· Lots of growth and development opportunities (we’d love you to grow your career with us, but we’ll support you wherever life takes you).
· Office perks – cake station, bar for end-of-day wind downs, and a brilliant central Stratford location for river walks, shopping or Shakespeare history on your lunchbreak.
· A friendly, supportive team who don’t take themselves too seriously.
· All the sensible stuff too: parking, holidays, Christmas shutdown, private health, pension.
· And most importantly – you’ll be part of a consultancy that makes a real difference. Over the last 6 years, we’ve helped more than 50,000 people have a better experience at work.

11:00am – Follow-up proposal sent to a prospect.
11:45am – A call with a client to cross-sell recruitment support. They say yes – so you ring the bell!
