About the Service
Health Care Assistants will support individuals experiencing mental health crises across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland as part of Urgent Care Emergency Access Pathway services. The team is nursing‑led and operates across three specialist services: the Mental Health Urgent Care Hub (MHUCH), a 24‑hour unit established during COVID to divert patients from accident and emergency; the Mental Health Response Vehicle (MHRV), a new ambulance‑style service launched in early 2024, providing on‑scene triage and assessment; and ongoing support for patients waiting for assessment or staying overnight.

* Offering patients snacks and drinks while waiting for assessment.
* Undertaking level 1 observations when a patient is staying overnight at the MHUCH.
* Attending patient addresses with a practitioner to complete assessments on the MHRV.
* Documenting all interactions on Electronic Patient Records.
