If you are an NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our CAMHS team at our inpatient mental health services for children and young people in Rochford, Essex. We are expanding our nursing team! Poplar Adolescent Unit is a general acute ward with 14 beds supporting young people aged 13-18 with various mental health issues. The unit is innovative, with a multidisciplinary team passionate about developing nurses. We offer further CAMHS training through our CAMHS preceptorship programme and opportunities for development in our award-winning DBT programme, ASD, and more.
This role is suitable for someone passionate about young people's mental health and interested in working innovatively at the forefront of NHS services. The successful candidate will work as part of our multidisciplinary team, involved in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents. Responsibilities include key working, developing care plans, risk assessments, and positive behaviour support plans, and supporting young people's recovery journeys. You may also support the therapies team with our therapeutic timetable to develop psychological skills. Advocacy in meetings to ensure evidence-based, valued care for patients is also part of the role. The post requires working with young people experiencing significant distress, so teamwork and empathy are essential.
Essential:
* Registered Mental Health Nurse at degree/diploma level
* Current NMC Registration
Desirable:
* Degree level qualification
Experience:
* Knowledge of mental disorders, child development, mental health law, legislation, and the nursing process
* Experience in a mental health setting post-registration
* Basic counselling skills
Special Aptitudes/Abilities:
* Understanding and empathy towards children and young people
* Effective communication with children, young people, parents, and professionals
* Understanding and working with challenging behaviour (desirable)
Personal Characteristics:

* Availability to work shifts, including days, nights, and weekends across all inpatient units
