Overview
We’re recruiting a fixed‑term Energy Advisor role, up to 2 years, to support the UK’s net‑zero strategy. The successful candidate will bring experience in regulating the energy sector, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries, and will help develop and deliver environmental outcomes for these sectors.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance and training.
* Develop strategy for the energy sector and produce the tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, industry trade associations and other key industry players.
* Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during an incident.
Qualifications & Experience
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage diversity issues in the workplace.
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, and experience regulating emissions to air where relevant.
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
* Cooperative team player who can achieve common goals and manage stakeholder expectations.
Contract Details
Length of contract: up to 2 years.
