We are actively seeking a Compliance Lawyer to support our client, one of the UK’s leading homebuilders, on an interim basis.
We are actively seeking a Compliance Lawyer with the following credentials:
* 3-8+ years’ post‑qualification experience, with an expertise in compliance law.
* Qualified to practice as a UK solicitor or equivalent EU/overseas qualification.
* Law degree from a Russell Group university or other bachelor’s degree with a law conversion course.
* Experience managing people and projects.
Support our client on the following:
* Proactively review, refresh, and maintain the organisation’s legal ethics and compliance policies to ensure alignment with applicable laws and regulations, including policies relating to anti‑money laundering, anti‑bribery and corruption, data protection, modern slavery, competition, and other relevant sector‑specific requirements.
* Assess existing operational controls, processes, and procedures relating to legal and regulatory compliance, identifying opportunities for enhancement and, in partnership with the wider group legal team and business stakeholders, supporting the effective and efficient implementation of any agreed changes, including proposing practical recommendations for improvement.
* Regularly update training materials, guidance, and other relevant resources to support the business in operating effectively within the applicable legal ethics and compliance framework.
* Manage and advise on instances of non‑compliance, including instructing and liaising with appropriately qualified external legal advisers and specialists where required to resolve issues effectively.
* Oversee and coordinate the work of data subject access request administrators to ensure the organisation meets its GDPR obligations in an efficient and compliant manner.
* Escalate non‑compliance matters to the Group Head of Legal and support the Group Head of Legal with compliance‑related reporting to the Executive team, the Board, and relevant committees.
* The role will be supported by the wider team in delivering the above responsibilities, and the successful candidate will also be expected to assist colleagues during peak periods by supporting broader team workloads where appropriate.
