Role Overview
The ADHD Assessor will conduct comprehensive ADHD assessments for patients referred through private pathways. The role involves clinical interviewing, diagnostic formulation, and producing detailed assessment reports in line with UK clinical standards and best practice guidance.
You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that may include psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure safe, accurate, and patient-centred diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct structured ADHD diagnostic assessments using recognised clinical tools and frameworks
Complete detailed developmental and clinical history interviews
Review screening questionnaires, collateral information, and supporting documentation
Apply diagnostic criteria from Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) or International Classification of Diseases 11th Revision (ICD-11)
Produce high-quality clinical reports with clear diagnostic rationale and recommendations
Provide feedback to patients regarding assessment outcomes and next steps
Identify co-occurring mental health or neurodevelopmental conditions where appropriate
Work collaboratively with prescribing clinicians where medication assessment may be indicated
Maintain accurate clinical records in line with **General Medical Council / **Health and Care Professions Council / **Nursing and Midwifery Council standards (depending on professional registration)
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed where relevant
Participate in clinical governance, supervision, and continuous professional development
Essential Requirements
Relevant professional qualification in healthcare or mental health, such as:
Clinical Psychologist
Psychiatrist
Mental Health Nurse
Occupational Therapist
Other registered clinician with neurodevelopmental assessment experience
Current registration with a recognised UK professional body such as:
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
General Medical Council (GMC)
Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
Demonstrable experience conducting ADHD assessments
Strong knowledge of ADHD diagnostic frameworks and evidence-based practice
Excellent clinical interviewing and report-writing skills
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience working within private healthcare services
Familiarity with structured ADHD assessment tools (e.g. DIVA, ACE+, QBCheck)
Experience assessing co-occurring conditions (e.g. anxiety, depression, ASD)
Experience delivering remote/telehealth assessments
Postgraduate training in neurodevelopmental conditions
