This expert Resuscitation Practitioner will lead and manage the resuscitation team which is established across all sites at University Hospitals Sussex. The post holder will support the Head of Resuscitation Services in providing strategic direction and operational leadership to ensure a comprehensive, effective and high-quality resuscitation service across the Trust. You will be required to travel across all Trust sites.
Responsibility for developing, implementing and monitoring standards of resuscitation practice and ensuring a robust audit programme is in place. You will act as the professional lead and expert advisor in resuscitation, providing guidance, policy advice and clinical leadership in the management of cardiac arrests and related emergencies.
This role is key to driving clinical excellence and patient safety through evidence-based practice, staff education and multidisciplinary collaboration. The post holder will form an integral part of the clinical resuscitation team, providing expert advice and hands-on clinical support when appropriate.
As the expert in resuscitation and training, the post holder will be instrumental in guiding and advising on Trust-wide policies and procedures relating to resuscitation, representing the Trust on internal and external resuscitation matters. The post holder will also act as an authorised signatory for the Resuscitation Services budget, ensuring effective financial governance and resource management within the service.
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role-specific criteria.

Communication
Lead and supervise clinical and administrative staff within the Resuscitation Department.
Organise and chair team meetings to coordinate service delivery.
Foster collaboration, open communication, and shared accountability across teams.
Service Delivery & Improvement
Oversee design, delivery, and evaluation of Trust-wide resuscitation training.
Review training needs analysis and ensure statutory compliance.
Manage departmental budget and identify income generation opportunities.
People Management & Development
Manage rosters, workforce planning, and budget reconciliation.
Lead and line-manage senior practitioners; oversee appraisal and development of all staff.
Monitor sickness and absence, liaising with Workforce Dept as needed.
Clinical
Provide expert clinical leadership during emergencies and cardiac arrests.
Act as a role model for best practice and guideline compliance.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
1. Current registration as a nurse, operating department practitioner or paramedic
2. Significant demonstratable experience of working as a Senior Resuscitation Practitioner
3. Clinical experience of autonomous practice and wide-ranging experience in all aspects of resuscitation
4. Excellent knowledge and proficiency in practical resuscitation skills
5. Demonstrates sound knowledge of current local, national NHS and resuscitation priorities
6. ENB 998 or Equivalent
7. ALS/APLS/EPLS/NLS instructor (not all required)
8. ALS/APLS/EPLS/NLS course director (not all required)
9. Certificate / Diploma in Leadership & Management Studies or working towards
10. Completed or working towards Masters level qualification or equivalent professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma supplemented by specialist training or equivalent experience to masters level
11. Demonstrable strategic involvement, leadership, and oversight in audit, quality improvement or research
12. Demonstrable management experience with experience of managing groups of staff
13. Demonstrate awareness of budget limitations and operate and perform within them
14. Evidence of on-going professional and personal development
15. Demonstrate high standard of clinical practice;
16. Evidence of working collaboratively with key stakeholders
