Job Summary
Due to a retirement, we are looking for a new band 6 Paediatric Specialist Allergy Dietitian. This is a part‑time post of 22.5 hours where the post holder can choose to spread the hours across 3 or 4 days. The post is based in the Paediatric Dietetic team at Royal Blackburn Hospital but covers the localities of East Lancashire.
Responsibilities
* Support the paediatric allergy caseload, including patients with cow's milk protein allergy, specific and non‑specific allergy, and Coeliac Disease in outpatient clinics, group education and MDT clinics.
* Cover general paediatric clinics across East Lancashire localities to develop or maintain skills in general paediatrics.
* Clinically supervise band 5 rotational dietitians and dietetic assistants.
* Support paediatric team leaders to continually develop and evolve the paediatric dietetic team/service, and develop paediatric dietetics guidance, training and policies as required for the Trust.
* Collaborate with the broader dietetic department (over 70 staff) and participate in clinical pathway developments, audit and continuous professional development.
* Involve in clinical teaching and assessment of dietetic students on placement, and support other health profession students.
* Work across sites and localities of East Lancashire – vehicle ownership or driver licence preferred.
Qualifications and Experience
* Dietitian qualification (Band 6); experience in paediatrics and allergy desirable but not essential – training will be provided.
* Previous clinical experience and transferable dietetic skills acceptable for those without paediatric experience.
* Experience or willingness to work with dietetic students and clinical teaching desirable.
Other Information
The team uses EMIS electronic records for outpatients and Cerner for inpatient records. There is good access to IT equipment. The department offers student training placements and dietitian apprenticeship training. East Lancashire has good transport links to Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and beyond, including access to the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District.
