What You Will Do
Deliver specialist clinical pharmacy input within the biologics service, ensuring the safe and effective use of high-cost medicines.
Provide expert pharmaceutical advice to clinicians, nursing staff, and patients on biologic therapies.
Review and approve prescriptions in line with national and local formulary guidance.
Lead patient education and counselling sessions on biologic treatments, focusing on adherence and safety.
Support the development and review of prescribing guidelines and formulary updates.
Monitor treatment outcomes, conduct audits, and contribute to pharmacovigilance reporting.
Drive service improvement initiatives and contribute to clinical governance processes.
Supervise and mentor junior pharmacists, pre-registration trainees, and pharmacy technicians.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent.
Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Postgraduate qualification or significant clinical experience in pharmacy or biologics.
Experience
Demonstrable experience in hospital pharmacy, ideally within a biologics or specialist medicines setting.
Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Experience managing complex caseloads and delivering patient-centred care.
Skills & Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of biologic and biosimilar therapies.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
