Overview
The Managing Director will assume full business accountability during a short transition period following the acquisition by a key investor. This role requires a strong understanding of the construction industry, particularly in site services, and leadership skills to guide the business through growth and transformation.
The role involves engaging with all aspects of the business, including operations, finance, and client relationships, to ensure a seamless transition into the MD position. Responsibilities include driving financial performance, EBITDA growth, and leveraging resources and networks.
Experience in Construction Site Services is preferred.
* Strategic Leadership and Business Growth
* Develop and implement strategies to increase market share and expand presence in the UK construction industry.
* Identify new business opportunities and potential diversification.
* Utilize resources from the Belgium-based parent company for innovation and expansion.
* Build relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
Financial Performance and Commercial Acumen
* Own the P&L, ensuring targets for revenue, EBITDA, and profitability are met or exceeded.
* Implement cost-effective measures to improve operational efficiency and margins.
* Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
* Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform decisions.
Operational Excellence
* Ensure quality, safety, and customer satisfaction in site services delivery.
* Manage extensive plant inventory, ensuring maintenance, safety, and compliance.
* Collaborate with teams to improve operational efficiency and safety standards.
Leadership and Team Development
* Provide visionary leadership to the management team.
* Mentor and develop key personnel.
* Promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
Transition to Managing Director
Engage deeply with all business aspects, work closely with the Board, and develop a strategic roadmap for future growth aligned with the parent company's objectives.
Key Skills & Experience
* Senior leadership experience in construction, especially site services.
* Strong financial skills with a record of P&L and EBITDA growth.
* Knowledge of the UK construction market and regulatory environment.
* Proven growth strategy development and execution skills.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
* Entrepreneurial mindset and experience in private equity or acquisitions.
* Understanding of health & safety regulations and plant equipment management.
* Degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related; MBA desirable.
* Results-driven, resilient, adaptable, with high integrity.
