About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of a growing business operating across both homecare services and a food provision arm. This is a hands-on, part-time role suited to someone who can manage multi-stream revenue, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide strategic financial insight to support sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
* Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts for both divisions (homecare and food services)
* Monitor cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting across the business
* Analyse financial performance and provide actionable insights to leadership
* Oversee payroll processes, including care staff and operational teams
Compliance & Regulation
* Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, including HMRC, VAT, and sector-specific requirements
* Manage audits and liaise with external accountants and auditors
* Maintain accurate financial records and internal controls
Operational Finance
* Track and manage funding streams (private clients) within the homecare sector
* Monitor cost control and margins within food production and distribution
* Support pricing strategies and cost efficiency initiatives
Systems & Process Improvement
* Review and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and workflows
* Implement best practices for financial governance across both business units
Strategic Support
* Work closely with directors to support business planning and growth
* Provide financial modelling for new services, contracts, or expansion opportunities
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior finance role
* Strong understanding of multi-entity or multi-department financial management
* Experience in healthcare, homecare, hospitality, or food-related sectors is highly desirable
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
* Strong knowledge of UK financial regulations and tax requirements
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
* Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
