Teaching Assistant (KS1) – Phonics & Small Group Intervention Focus
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Key Stage 1, with a particular focus on phonics and small group intervention. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early literacy and committed to helping young learners build strong foundations in reading and writing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences for KS1 pupils.
* Lead and support small group phonics interventions to help pupils develop early reading and decoding skills.
* Assist with the delivery of structured phonics programmes and reinforce learning during classroom activities.
* Provide targeted support for pupils who require additional help with phonics, reading, and early literacy development.
* Help monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have experience working with KS1 pupils or in an early years/primary school setting.
* Have a good understanding of phonics teaching approaches (such as systematic synthetic phonics).
* Be confident supporting small group interventions and adapting learning to meet pupils’ needs.
* Demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and a commitment to helping children succeed.
* Have strong communication and teamwork skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
