This role is within the Mortgages CIO function under CT (Customer Technology), part of the wider COO organisation, responsible for delivering IT solutions focused on customers and colleagues.
You will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of the agreed roadmap supporting our Integration and Migration Strategy. Collaborating closely with the Principal Engineer and Technology Lead, you will provide leadership and support to our Engineering teams.
As a Lead Engineer, you will ensure our systems and platforms are designed, developed, and tested to be resilient and secure, aligned with strategy, and adhering to good engineering practices and principles. This role is within the Mortgages CIO function, which primarily provides mortgages via brokers, online, and API channels. We are actively expanding our propositions in both Home and Landlord spaces as part of our integration efforts.

What you’ll be doing
1. Leading a team to deliver first-class solutions in an Agile environment, adopting DevOps practices for rapid iteration and continuous improvement.
2. Collaborating with the Lead Engineer and Technology Lead to ensure the resilience and usability of solutions for thousands of users daily.
3. Mentoring and developing your team to enhance our development processes and strategies.
4. Nurturing proactive habits and building contacts to improve efficiency and speed.
5. Engaging actively in problem-solving and learning new areas with our support.
6. Managing capability development, coaching, performance, and pastoral care within your feature team.
7. Participating in the implementation, administration, and support of new initiatives, including VM integration.
8. Creating technical design documents from functional specifications.
9. Providing technical expertise throughout the delivery lifecycle, including leadership and stakeholder consultancy.
About you
* Extensive experience managing Mortgage Sales systems and processing.
* Proven ability to design and implement full-stack solutions, with knowledge of .NET or JavaScript frameworks.
* Knowledge of creating and managing Micro-UIs.
* Understanding of modern development practices.
* Experience leading small teams.
* Experience adopting emerging technologies with on-prem and cloud solutions.
* Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, DevOps, containers, automation, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.
* Familiarity with monitoring tools like Dynatrace, and databases like SQL Server and MongoDB.
* Experience with API engineering, workflow tools, middleware, and integrations in the Mortgage domain.
* Background in Banking and financial products, especially mortgages or lending.
* Hands-on experience with delivery methodologies, DevOps practices, and tooling such as Jenkins, Harness, Ansible, etc.
