We are looking for an experienced medical secretary to join the busy Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at Colchester Hospital. You should have excellent communication, administrative, and organisational skills, and be able to produce accurate audio typing and reports, as well as respond to ad hoc queries and deadlines effectively.
The role involves:
1. Audio typing of clinic letters using the digital dictation system and reports using Microsoft Word within agreed timescales. In the absence of the Consultant, ensuring these letters are sent out to reach the correct destination within the agreed timescales.
2. Co-ordination of the administrative functions relating to patient admissions, ensuring waiting lists are up to date and theatre lists are fully utilised.
3. Adding patients to the relevant inpatient and day-case waiting lists on the Patient Administration System; planning and maintaining the waiting list according to the Patient Access Policy and Trust procedures.
4. Management and validation of patients' 18-week Referral to Treatment pathways, working closely with the Operations Coordinator and validation team.
We value an approachable, helpful, flexible attitude and teamwork. If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge, we want to hear from you.
