Job overview
As a Mechanical Supervisor at Broadmoor estate, you'll be the Authorised Person for all mechanical maintenance, including infrastructure, heating, hot and cold water systems, and underground drainage. This permanent, Band 6 role reports to the Estates Manager and involves significant responsibility for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all mechanical systems across the estate.
You'll lead and develop a team of Mechanical Technicians and Operatives, overseeing their work, managing sickness absence, performance, and conduct. A key part of your role will be to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including HTMs (Health Technical Memoranda) and Gas Safety Regulations.
Beyond technical oversight, you'll be responsible for local contract management, instructing and managing specialist contractors. You'll work closely with other Estates and clinical teams, contributing to overall site services and assisting with mechanical installation projects. This position requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement, including championing energy reduction initiatives. You'll also be part of an out-of-hours call system for emergencies.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced and technically adept mechanical professional who thrives in a leadership position within a critical infrastructure environment. To excel as our Mechanical Supervisor, you'll need:
1. Exceptional Mechanical Engineering Expertise: A deep and up-to-date understanding of mechanical systems, infrastructure, and relevant regulations (HTMs, Gas Safety, etc.). You'll be the technical authority.
2. Strong Leadership & Management Skills: The ability to effectively lead, motivate, develop, & manage a team, ensuring high performance& adherence to standards.

Essential criteria
8. Industry recognised degree level qualification (e.g. City and Guilds Level 5, recognised apprenticeship or other approved technical maintenance/mechanical training.) PLUS specialist knowledge or equivalent knowledge acquired though courses & Experience.
9. Equivalent demonstrable practical knowledge and experience acquired through work experience PLUS supplementary courses.

Experience

15. Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience within a commercial environment.
16. Supervisory experience within an Estates maintenance environment.
17. Experience undertaking surveys and audits (e.g. condition surveys)
18. Experience supervising staff within specialised area
19. Experience working as an electrician within the NHS.
