As a result of expansion plans, we are seeking a dynamic New Business Lead within our Marketplace team, based at our Head Office in Plymouth. The role focuses on expanding The Range Marketplace by identifying, recruiting, and onboarding new sellers. The New Business Lead will help source sellers whose product offerings align with the platform’s strategy and growth objectives, assess seller potential, and facilitate a smooth onboarding process. You will report directly to the Marketplace Manager.
Responsibilities
* Identify and recruit new sellers across high-priority categories in alignment with The Range Marketplace strategy.
* Develop and execute acquisition strategies to meet growth targets for new business.
* Lead seller acquisition initiatives to identify and onboard potential sellers.
* Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and trends.
* Collaborate with the Marketplace Manager to target categories or segments with growth potential.
* Conduct thorough seller vetting and in-house compliance checks to ensure alignment with company standards.
* Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory compliance throughout the seller vetting and onboarding process.
* Provide dedicated support to sellers during sign-up and onboarding to facilitate a smooth experience.
* Identify, prioritise, and expedite new key leads in line with business strategy.
* Offer ongoing seller support during the initial onboarding period to ensure successful integration and alignment with processes and expectations.
* Facilitate a smooth transition of sellers from introduction to the Seller Account Management team, highlighting key sellers and performance indicators.
* Manage product onboarding to ensure accurate and timely product listings.
* Represent the company at trade shows and webinars to promote the platform and engage with prospective sellers.
* Develop and pitch value propositions to prospective sellers, highlighting benefits of joining The Range Marketplace.
* Build and manage a robust pipeline of potential sellers, tracking progress from initial contact to onboarding.
* Manage the full sales cycle: lead generation, outreach, pitching, negotiation, and contract closure.
* Track and report KPIs including acquisition numbers, seller performance, and revenue growth from new accounts.
* Produce and analyse regular reports to guide decision-making and performance.
* Deliver training and onboarding sessions to new sellers to ensure successful integration.
* Utilise Zendesk to manage and resolve seller enquiries, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
* Collaborate with marketing to create campaigns and materials supporting seller acquisition and launches.
* Lead and manage team members to drive performance, provide mentorship, and support professional development.
* Work with direct reports to establish robust introductory processes for new sellers and continuously refine processes to evolving needs.
Essential & Preferred Skills & Requirements
* Proven experience (5+ years) in business development, sales, or partner acquisition within a marketplace, e-commerce, or digital platform.
* Experience with seller and product compliance.
* Experience with Mirakl Marketplace is desirable.
* Ability to identify and act on commercial opportunities.
* A degree is preferred but not essential; strong written, numerical and analytical skills are required.
* Strong commercial understanding with knowledge of retail and online selling.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills to pitch to different sellers.
* Experience with seller onboarding and familiarity with marketplace ecosystems is a plus.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to work with formulas and graphs.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a professional and respectful team player.
* Strong administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills; ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Position: Permanent, Full-time, In-Office
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:45 to 17:30
