The Role and the Team

We’re looking for a Lead Product Designer to join our growing Product & Design organisation. This is a key leadership role within the team: not only will you take on complex, high-impact design challenges across our digital products, but you'll also be responsible for line‑managing and developing our team of three talented product designers. You'll work closely with the Head of Design (who you'll report to), product managers, researchers, engineers and stakeholders from across the business to shape experiences that are useful, usable and loved by our members. This role requires a blend of systems thinking, product strategy, visual design, and leadership capability. You'll also play a critical role in building and evolving our design culture, ways of working, and overall quality bar.

Responsibilities

* Contribute design work as part of a Product Squad
* Line‑manage and coach our existing team of product designers, supporting their growth and development
* Lead the end‑to‑end design process across critical product areas
* Work cross‑functionally with product, engineering, research, data, content and marketing to solve complex user and business problems
* Provide direction, critique and support to product designers across projects
* Be an advocate for user needs, inclusive design, accessibility and design best practice
* Guide product and design decisions through hands‑on work, workshop facilitation, and storytelling
* Contribute to strategic planning alongside the Head of Design and Design Leadership team
* Find appropriate uses for AI in our Product Design and Discovery workflows

What You’ll Bring

* Extensive experience in product design, including several years in senior or lead‑level roles
* A portfolio that demonstrates both high‑quality craft and clear product thinking
* Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring other designers
* Ability to connect design work to business and user outcomes
* Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills
* Strong knowledge of Figma and modern design tools
* Familiarity with agile methodologies and working in fast‑paced environments

Nice to Have

* Experience working with or contributing to a design system
* Exposure to both web and native mobile app design (iOS + Android)
* Experience working in membership, e‑commerce, or fintech environments
