Job Opportunity: Domestic Assistant (Healthcare Cleaner)Location: North Devon District HospitalHours: 32.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 06:30 – 13:30)Pay Rate: £12.51 – £22.89 per hourAbout the RoleWe are looking for a dedicated and reliable Domestic Assistant (Healthcare Cleaner) to join our team at North Devon District Hospital. You will play a key role in ensuring patients, staff, and visitors experience a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at all times.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out routine and ad-hoc cleaning duties in line with national cleanliness standards and Trust policies.Maintain a hygienic, safe patient environment, helping to minimise the risk of healthcare-associated infections.Empty and dispose of domestic and clinical waste according to infection prevention policies.Replenish consumables (soap, paper towels, toilet rolls, etc.).Operate cleaning equipment safely, following COSHH and PPE requirements.Communicate courteously with patients, staff, and visitors, always providing a professional and caring service.Work flexibly across different hospital areas when required.What We're Looking ForPrevious experience in a cleaning or domestic role (healthcare setting desirable).Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Compassionate, respectful, and professional approach to patients and colleagues.Good communication and customer service skills.Physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including moving equipment and light furniture.High personal hygiene standards.A satisfactory criminal record check is required for this position.What we offer:Working at Sodexo isn't just a job — it's a chance to make a difference every day.
