We are seeking a dedicated and creative Accessible Information Specialist to support our Forensic Mental Health service, ensuring that all service users, carers and families receive information in a format that meets their individual communication needs.
In mental health services, accessible information is critical to supporting good therapeutic relationships, shared decision making, trauma informed practice, and safe, person-centred care. You will play a key role in enabling people to understand their care, express their preferences, and participate fully in their recovery journey.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established and growing SLT team as we roll out a communication-friendly approach across forensic services and demonstrate the impact of SLT on patient care.

Main duties of the job
Accessible Information & Service Support You will lead on the creation of accessible and trauma informed information for forensic settings, including easy read risk plans, tribunal documents, care plans, ward guidelines, rights under the Mental Health Act, and discharge/transfer information. You will support teams in identifying and recording patients' communication needs, ensuring compliance with the Accessible Information Standard across secure and community forensic pathways. You will work as part of the speech and language therapy team. You will be part of an active AHP team in the forensic directorate made up of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapist and Dietetics and will have this network of experience and support to draw on.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* GCSE English grade A*-C, or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, employment or voluntary work.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Graduate degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
* Previous experience using symbol/photo software such as Widgit or Photosymbols.
Experience
* Experience of communicating effectively at different levels using different mediums.
* Experience of devising effective, creative solutions to requirements.
* Proven track record of achievement in a previous role.
* Experience of developing and organising easy read materials.
* Experience of communicating sensitive, confidential issues and matters.
