ASSISTANT PRODUCTIONS MANAGER - £34,659 TO 36,359 (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND FLT/BENDI LICENCE) BASED WATTON/THETFORD - PERMANENT FULL TIME - MONDAY TO FRIDAY 7.30AM TO 5PM.
Role Purpose
The Assistant Production Manager is a vital role within our operations. You will be expected to work directly on the production lines while simultaneously overseeing a small, fast‑paced team. Your goal is to assist in ensuring that production targets are met, quality is uncompromised, and the unit operates smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
* Shop Floor Leadership & Operations
o Active Production: Work hands‑on on the production lines to maintain output.
o Team Supervision: Oversee a small team, ensuring staff are working efficiently and meeting hourly/daily targets.
o Technical Proficiency: Operate all production machinery (following training) and assist with basic maintenance to minimize downtime.
o Labelling: Manage overprinting tasks using specialized printers and NiceLabel / NiceLabel Design software.
o Staff Development: Assist with the training and onboarding of new team members, ensuring they are quickly up to speed on safety, quality, and operational standards.
* Quality Control & Dispatch
o Quality Control: Conduct quality checks to ensure every product meets company standards before leaving the unit.
o Product checks: Perform final stock checks to ensure the physical count matches recorded amounts.
o Health & Safety: Ensure all team members adhere to Health and Safety procedures and company protocols at all times.
* Administrative & Planning Support
o Production Planning: In the Production Manager's absence, take the lead on planning production runs and scheduling work.
o Systems Management: Use Excel and internal computer systems to book products and maintain accurate digital records.
o Inventory Control: Assist with regular stock takes of raw materials to ensure stock levels are correct.
Required Skills & Experience
* Management Style: Comfortable managing a small team in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment.
* Technical Ability: Mechanically minded; able to troubleshoot machinery and use specialized software.
* IT Literacy: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer systems for data entry and planning.
* Physicality: This is a hands‑on role; you must be comfortable being on your feet and working the lines alongside the production team.
* Attention to Detail: Precision is required for stock counting, quality control, and label design.
