Principal Civil Engineer – Salary: GBP 50,000 – 60,000 – Location: Glasgow
We are a leading multidisciplinary consultancy offering high‑profile civil engineering projects across Scotland. This role seeks an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to design infrastructure, lead a newly established team, and deliver complex projects.

Responsibilities
* Oversee the design of a wide array of engineering developments
* Manage the day‑to‑day running of engineering projects, including budget, resources, schedule, and successful delivery/implementation
* Mentor and support colleagues throughout their CPD within the company
* Manage clients and stakeholders across public and private sectors
* Prepare, check, amend, and submit technical reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and method statements
* Adhere to and enforce company policies, procedures, and best practice, upholding appropriate health and safety standards at all times
* Contribute to the company’s business development, acting as a representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.
Required Skills and Experience
* A Degree in Civil Engineering
* Possess Chartered Status
* Extensive experience working in a design capacity within a UK‑based consultancy
* Considerable experience with infrastructure (highways and drainage), housing developments, and energy projects
* Experience of earthworks and drainage network modelling
* Proficient in the use of various software packages, including Civils 3D, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, and similar
* Demonstrable experience writing and amending a variety of reports for submission
* Experience managing both projects and people
* Considerable experience managing client and stakeholder relations
* Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
* A full, valid UK driving licence
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Prior experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments
* Some experience of preparing Transport Assessments
* Experience of working in a public‑facing role
