Complex Needs Practitioner Level 1 (male only)

Based in Paisley, our fabulous team are on the lookout for two person-centred male colleagues with a calm and understanding nature to join us as Complex Needs Practitioners Level 1. We have a full-time (39 hours) and a 30-hour contract available.
While previous experience as a Support Worker would be desirable, we recruit based on values and transferable skills. Our Learning and Development team will provide all the training you need, including the opportunity to complete a fully funded SVQ.
The Role
Blackford is a purpose-built complex of two homes conjoined by a staff area, supporting 8 gentlemen across two houses with Autism, learning disabilities, Down's Syndrome, complex needs, and behaviours of concern. Each supported individual has their own room with an ensuite, shared communal areas, a kitchen, activities room, and a large garden with an outdoor gym.
You will be part of a dedicated team, supporting individuals with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, medication, appointments, managing personal finances, moving and handling, and personal care. You’ll provide emotional support and help maintain relationships with family and friends.
Some individuals have complex communication needs and use different communication tools. Their hobbies vary, including outings for meals, sensory activities, relaxation, holidays, walks, and attending clubs. One individual attends college and enjoys drives. Your support will help reduce social isolation, promote independence, and boost confidence.
Our Support Approach
We may use CALM techniques, which include physical intervention and escape strategies to ensure safety. These techniques involve understanding triggers, de-escalation signs, and guiding individuals away from escalation.
Requirements

Shift Patterns
Support is provided 24/7 with shift patterns including 7:30am - 10pm, 8am - 9:30pm, sleepovers (additional pay of £90.20 per sleepover), and waking nights (9:30pm - 8:30am). Sleepovers are unpaid in hours but paid additionally.
