Job Description
We are offering four full-time roles, each working 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday. One role is based at Gartcraig Depot, and three are based at Eastgate. Flexibility in working patterns and hours is required.
Your responsibilities will include developing, installing, maintaining, and monitoring the City’s Street Lighting Network to meet service targets and ensure compliance with electrical regulations and technical standards. Additionally, you will support lighting projects and other service streams aimed at transforming Glasgow City Council’s street lighting infrastructure, investing in LED technology to create a safe, reliable, and energy-efficient lighting network.
Applicants must have a Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Alternatively, a SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering demonstrating qualifying criteria for Technician Electrician or Approved Electrician status will be considered. Candidates should possess a BS7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition and a valid Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card supported by a Health and Safety Assessment Certificate, or have the ability to obtain these within a year of appointment. A current driving license is also essential.
Applicants should have a solid working knowledge of current Wiring Regulations, Technical Standards, and Codes of Practice related to electrical distribution. Ability to support budget management and monitor performance against targets is also required.
