Associate/Associate Director - Port Electrical Engineer (Maritime)

Role Overview

You will join the Maritime team as an Associate Director (Electrical Engineer) based in the UK. Your work will involve providing technical input across the full project lifecycle – from Feasibility Studies and Concept Designs through FEED, Value Engineering and Detailed Design – for a portfolio of UK‑based and international projects. You will develop electrical deliverables, including Single Line Diagrams, cable calculations, plant layouts, cable routing and switchgear configurations, as well as draft electrical specifications and review contractor submissions. Your responsibilities will also encompass engaging with equipment vendors, performing technical evaluations of designs, and collaborating with owners, operators and investors on asset assessments and risk management. The role is hybrid; occasional site visits in the UK and short overseas travel may be required.


Key Responsibilities

Your day‑to‑day duties will include:

* Preparing electrical deliverables with minimal guidance, including Single Line Diagrams, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, cable containment designs, switchgear configurations, and bill of materials.
* Drafting electrical specifications and reviewing contractor design submissions against client requirements, national and international standards, codes, and best practices.
* Collaborating with equipment vendors to develop equipment packages and participate in technical evaluations.
* Assessing the condition, capability and risk of existing and newly constructed electrical assets in partnership with owners, operators and investors.
* Developing and maintaining project management skills while supporting project objectives.
* Traveling as required within the UK and potentially overseas for project support.


Qualifications

* Degree or similar qualification in a relevant engineering subject supported by significant postgraduate experience in electrical design, operation, maintenance, and testing.
* Attainment of or working towards professional registration with the Engineering Council UK (ECUK) at Chartered (CEng) level leading to Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
* Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and membership of a relevant Engineering Institute.
* Ability and desire to lead the development of electrical deliverables and assess assets under construction or operation.
* Knowledge of design, construction, and operation of power and energy projects.
* Experience on maritime projects – e.g., container terminals, liquid and dry bulk terminals, offshore wind, ro‑ro, etc.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and civil engineering aptitude.
* Ability to produce quality technical outputs and solutions.
* Effective coordination and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
* Competence in using MS Office software.
* Clear communication in English, both oral and written.
* Personable, approachable, enthusiastic, and empathetic.
* Knowledge and practical experience of one or more of the following design tools:
o AutoCAD
o Revit
o AMTECH ProDesign
o ETAP
o PSCAD
o PowerFactory (DIgSILENT)
o Dialux
o Relux
