Role Overview
The Dental Receptionist will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience. You’ll manage appointments, handle payments, maintain patient records, and support the smooth operation of the clinic through administrative and financial tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Answer telephone calls professionally and courteously
* Welcome patients on arrival and provide a friendly reception experience
* Manage appointment scheduling efficiently and accurately
* Collect and record patient payments
* Maintain patient records securely and accurately
* Complete and return NHS and private scheme forms within deadlines
* Encourage prompt payments and manage outstanding debts per practice policy
* Liaise with dental laboratories, suppliers, and external organisations
* Send patient recalls and compile day sheets
* Keep reception and waiting areas clean and tidy
* Organise and control stock supplies
* Undertake training as required to develop skills
* Attend refresher training for medical emergencies and CPR
Eligibility Requirements
* Prior experience in a receptionist or administrative role (preferred)
* Experience in dental or healthcare environments (advantageous but not essential)
* Exceptional telephone etiquette and customer service skills
* Strong organisational abilities with composure under pressure
* Proficiency in IT (Microsoft Office, email, booking software); dental software experience advantageous
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Punctual, dependable, and a strong team player
* Friendly, patient-focused demeanour with professional appearance
* Willingness to learn and adapt to practice systems and protocols
