Job Title: Director of Quantity Surveying (PQS)
Location: Manchester
Salary: £100,000–£120,000 + excellent benefits package
A global consultancy with a strong UK presence is expanding its northern leadership team and is seeking a Director of Quantity Surveying to lead and grow its QS function across the North. Based in Manchester, this strategic hire will shape the future direction of the regional business during a period of rapid growth and a strong pipeline of new work.
The team delivers major projects across education, healthcare, local government and wider public‑sector programmes, including university estates, levelling‑up schemes and large‑scale hospital developments. With significant autonomy and a culture that empowers leaders to make decisions, this role suits someone who thrives on visibility, influence and driving positive change.
The Role
You’ll lead the cost management service line across the North, holding full P&L responsibility and setting the strategic direction for the team. The role combines hands‑on leadership with commercial oversight, ensuring excellent project delivery, strong client relationships and sustainable growth. You’ll work closely with regional and sector leaders to build a joined‑up, high‑performing business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and grow the QS team across northern offices
* Full ownership of budgets, forecasting and commercial performance
* Drive profitability, utilisation and fee conversion
* Lead recruitment, resourcing and team development
* Maintain high technical, delivery and quality standards
* Oversee governance, risk, HSEQ and operational compliance
* Build strong client relationships and support bids and frameworks
* Shape a collaborative, one‑team culture across the region
Essential Requirements
* Strong reputation in the northern market with senior leadership experience in consultancy
* Proven commercial and financial management capability
* Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams
* Track record of driving growth, change or transformation
* Strong client‑facing, influencing and communication skills
