Job Description
This role has been created to assist in the continuing growth of UCE’s electrical power network design and consultancy services. UCE undertakes the design of contestable electrical networks associated with new connections and the design of private wire networks for Generation and Demand customers.
The Power Systems Engineer will be responsible for the following:
Undertaking the design and specification of electrical distribution networks and substations from LV to 132kV and associated equipment for new connections and private wire networks. This will include:
1. Specifying cables.
2. Undertaking cable sizing and thermal rating calculations.
3. Producing cable route drawings.
4. Producing Legal plans for required easements, substation leases etc;
5. Specifying electrical LV,11kV,33kV and 132kV switchgear.
6. Designing and specifying protection schemes.
7. Specifying transformers and where necessary associated protection schemes.
8. Specifying and sizing Current transformer and Voltage transformers.
9. Specifying LV switchgear / fusegear.
10. Specifying and sizing Battery Chargers.
11. Producing Single Line Diagrams.
12. Producing secondary designs e.g. multicore block wiring diagrams and associated multi core wiring interface drawings.
