Overview

This is a strategic leadership opportunity to shape inclusive education at Whalley Range 11-18 High School. As Assistant Headteacher and Head of Inclusion, you will lead the development and delivery of SEND provision across the school, ensuring outstanding outcomes for students with additional needs. You\'ll work closely with senior leaders, staff, families, and external agencies to embed inclusive practices, oversee EHCPs and transition programmes, and champion wellbeing and personal development. This role also includes line management responsibilities across key inclusion teams and contributes to whole-school improvement and leadership.


Responsibilities

* Lead the development and delivery of SEND provision across the school, ensuring outstanding outcomes for students with additional needs.
* Collaborate with senior leaders, staff, families and external agencies to embed inclusive practices.
* Oversee EHCPs and transition programmes.
* Provide line management across key inclusion teams and contribute to whole-school improvement and leadership.


Qualifications and Requirements

* SENCO experience (and ideally a qualification).
* Deep knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
* Ability to use data to drive improvement.
* Excellent communication skills; ability to foster strong relationships with students, staff and families; ability to lead effective CPD.
* Resilience, ambition and a commitment to equity and excellence; ability to inspire others and contribute to a collaborative, forward-thinking leadership team.

Whalley Range 11-18 High School is a popular, high-performing, multicultural inner-city girls\' comprehensive school with a thriving Sixth Form, located close to Manchester city centre. We are a part of the Greater Manchester Education Trust. Together, we create lives of opportunity. Our recent academic results at GCSE include an Attainment 8 score of 52.04, exceeding both local and national averages. Similarly, our value added for Sixth Form A levels was 0.24 and for Vocational was 0.66 for the Extended Certificates and 0.72 for the Diplomas, all well above average.
