Overview
We are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning at Merrow Schools Federation, which includes Merrow CofE Infant School and Merrow Junior School. The vacancy will be at the Junior School. Staff are typically based at one school, with flexibility to work across the two schools if needed.
Responsibilities
* Work with class teachers to deliver excellent teaching and learning.
* Support children on a 1:1 or group basis (including children with additional needs).
* Support assessment and evidencing learning.
* Assist the teacher in creating stimulating classroom displays and learning resources.
* Maintain a safe and positive environment for all learners.
* Create opportunities for all learners to reach their potential, irrespective of ability.

The right candidate will have
* GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
* Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant.
* Ability to work on their own initiative.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults.
* Ability to use relevant technology/equipment.
* Positive growth mindset.
* Flexibility to move across Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 1 (though this role will primarily be in Key Stage 1).
* A commitment to the happiness, well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school.
* Experience with children with Social & Emotional needs or ASD is welcomed.
Role details
* Term time only.
* Fixed term for one academic year (to July 2026).
* Days: Monday to Friday, 17.50 hours per week (08:30–12:00).
* Salary: Surrey Pay PS3 (pay award pending) - FTE £24,330; pro-rata approx £7,722 depending on start date.
