Occupational Therapist - Older Peoples Mental Health Team
Join NHS Scotland as an Occupational Therapist for the Older Peoples Mental Health Team. This temporary (12‑month) maternity leave cover position will provide occupational therapy input for the Older Peoples Community Mental Health services in Cairnmhor Resource Centre (Dumbarton) and Goldenhill Resource Centre (Clydebank). A driving licence is desirable for this post.
Overview
The role will support a multidisciplinary team—including nursing, medical, psychology, link workers and support staff—to deliver occupational therapy assessment, treatment and therapeutic occupation‑focused interventions. You will evaluate treatment effectiveness, tailor interventions accordingly, and may supervise occupational therapy support staff.
Responsibilities
* Provide occupational therapy assessment, treatment plans and a range of therapeutic interventions for older people in community mental health settings.
* Work collaboratively with nursing, medical, psychology, link workers, support staff and external partner organisations.
* Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and adapt interventions as needed.
* Deliver core occupational therapy care while supporting multidisciplinary working, supervised by occupational therapy staff in the West Dunbartonshire Older Peoples Community Mental Health Service.
* Participate in professional supervision and continuing professional development opportunities.
Requirements
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
* Experience or interest in working with older people and community mental health settings.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Desirable: valid driving licence.
Working Hours
Monday–Thursday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Friday: 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
