The Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Dementia Specialist Nurse to join our team. This pivotal role will focus on setting and maintaining the highest standards of dementia care through assessment, staff support, and meaningful engagement.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out PALs (Pool Activity Level) assessments for all residents.
* Leading and role-modelling meaningful engagement in line with the Butterfly Approach.
* Conducting staff supervisions and appraisals to set a consistent standard of care and empower staff to deliver their best.
* Leading morning handovers to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.
* Planning and managing practice development sessions to enhance staff skills, knowledge, and confidence.
* Working collaboratively with staff to promote a culture of empathy, kindness, and person-centred care.
* Liaising with families and outside professionals to ensure residents' needs are met holistically.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* A Registered Nurse (NMC registered) with proven experience in dementia care.
* Knowledgeable in PALs assessments and familiar with the Butterfly Approach or similar models of meaningful engagement.
* Skilled in leading, motivating, and supporting staff teams through supervisions, appraisals, and development sessions.
* An excellent communicator, confident leading handovers and working alongside families, colleagues, and external professionals.
* Passionate about dementia care and committed to maintaining dignity, respect, and quality of life for residents.
