Overview
Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking an experienced Electronics Architect to work with our client, hybrid attendance at Cheadle or Templecombe. In this role the successful candidate will lead the definition and design of electronics architectures supporting ASW capabilities. This will include electronics, power, and mechanical integration for sonar, sensors, and control systems.
We are looking for an energetic and driven individual with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with marine, aerospace or military experience.

Responsibilities
The Electronics Architect will perform, but not be limited to the following type of activities centred on the development and delivery of ASW Sonar and Sensor products:
Develop and agree a Work Package Plan and Schedule with the relevant xEM and then take responsibility for completion of the assigned Work Package tasks in accordance with the Plan and Schedule, requesting assistance as needed
Carry out electronic engineering and architecture activities in a team / multi-stakeholder / multi-discipline environment
Support colleagues working in the Thales team throughout the project lifecycle, including design, development, verification, qualification, and in-service support
Work collaboratively with Production (Industry) and Procurement departments to produce cost-effective, manufacturable and testable electronic hardware solutions
Work collaboratively with systems and software teams to capture requirements, integrate solutions, and support system-level testing
Provide support to the preparation of detailed estimates and bids (if required)
Provide support to Production (Industry) as required, e.g. respond to Problem Reports and Change RequestsProvide support for trials, integration, and customer demonstrations as required
Qualifications
Degree level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline. A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu
Essential skills
10+ years of experience in electronic design and architecture within complex systems
Strong all-round technical knowledge across analogue, digital, FPGA, and power electronics
Proven experience of designing safety- and mission-critical electronic solutions
Good understanding of EMC/EMI design principles and environmental compliance
Requirements Management and Development Skills
General understanding of Engineering Development lifecycles (V-Model, Agile/Hybrid)
Experience of design for manufacturability, testability, and maintainability
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
Proactive "can-do" mentality
Strong logical approach to problem solving
Microsoft Office suite experience
The individual will be expected to demonstrate a high level of autonomy
Desired skills
DOORS or equivalent requirements management tools
Modelling and simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, VHDL/Verilog)
Experience of configuration and change management tools (e.g. JIRA, ClearCase)
Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
Knowledge of naval platform standards and practices

Strong relevant experience of the skills listed above or associated experience that can be applied to electronics architecture and design
Design and specification of circuit boards, subassemblies, and equipment suitable for 19" rack/cabinet environments
Full engineering lifecycle experience (Capture, Design, Implementation, Verification, Qualification, and In-service support)
Working with requirements in a structured and evidential manner
Production of Design Documents, Test Specifications, and Configuration Records
Desirable
Understanding of Naval platforms, standards, and equipment practices
Previous experience with
Designing to meet platform-specific EMC and environmental requirements
High-reliability and ruggedised product engineering
Mixed-signal electronics, FPGA architectures, and DSP implementation
