The Role
A Local Authority in Surrey is seeking an Interim Building Surveyor to join a small, supportive team to assist with a busy repairs and disrepair workload. This is a hands-on role focused on surveying, inspections, and contractor liaison, with a strong emphasis on responsive repairs and disrepair cases.
There is a possibility for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out site inspections on properties a few days per week
Review and interpret Scott Schedules / Scot Reports and disrepair reports
Prepare clear instructions and scopes of work for contractors
Pass works to contractors and monitor progress
Liaise with contractors to ensure works are completed to required standards
Support the team with technical input on repairs and disrepair cases
Provide professional advice on building defects and remedial solutions
Maintain accurate records and updates following inspections
About You
Qualified or experienced Building Surveyor (public or private sector background welcomed)
Proven experience dealing with repairs and housing disrepair
Confident carrying out inspections and diagnosing building defects
Comfortable reviewing Scot Reports / Scott Schedules
Able to communicate clearly with contractors and internal teams
Happy working as part of a small, collaborative team
Available for an initial 3-month interim contract
