Your New Role
As the Lead Fire Safety Adviser, you will be a key member of the Health and Safety Team within the organisation’s centralpliance andernance function. Reporting to the Head of Occupational Health and Safety, you will lead on all aspects of fire safety across a multi ‑ site academic, residential, and research estate.
You will act as the organisation’spetent person for fire safety, providing expert advice on legislation, policy, and best practice. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing fire prevention and protection arrangements, managing the fire risk assessment programme, delivering training, supporting emergency evacuation procedures, and overseeing Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs). You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, students, NHS partners, and third ‑ party tenants, to ensure an effective, resilient, and legallypliant fire safety culture.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
You will bring extensive knowledge of UK fire safety legislation along with relevant professional qualifications such as Fire Risk Assessor Level 4, Fire Risk Diploma, or professional membership of the IFE. Substantial experience managing fire safety withinplex organisations is essential, alongside strong analytical, problem ‑ solving, and influencing skills. You will be confident advising on fire safety principles, able tomunicate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups, andmitted to embedding a positive safety culture.
