ABOUT US University Arms is a 192-bedroom design-led Hotel situated in the heart of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Overlooking Parker’s Piece is the Hotel’s quintessentially British Restaurant and Bar Parker’s Tavern, Library Lounge, and beautiful 272 square metre wood panelled Ballroom. Opened in 1834 as a Coaching Inn, University Arms is Cambridge’s oldest Hotel. For 180 years, the Hotel was added to, updated, and modernised in line with the age; however, it was the reopening in 2018 after a four-year £80m full renovation that really positioned the Hotel. It is now Cambridge's 'go to’ destination, alluring visitors with the promise of a sense of modern luxury. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING The People and Training Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the implementation of people strategies that strengthen employee engagement, learning and development, HR compliance, and organisational culture. The position coordinates training initiatives, assists with recruitment and onboarding processes, provides day-to-day HR support, and helps ensure adherence to company standards and hospitality service excellence. THE DUTIES Training & Development Coordinate and deliver the food & beverage induction programmes for all new Team Members on service standards, menus, complaint resolution and steps of service for all services. Work closely with Department Heads to identify training needs and support team members’ skills development. Maintain accurate training records and monitor completion of mandatory training requirements. Organise workshops, learning sessions, and external training where required. People Organise initiatives that promote employee engagement and a positive workplace culture. Support Team Member recognition programmes and engagement events. Facilitate team-building activities across hotel departments. Assist with recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination. Conduct the 1 st interview for all Food & Beverage candidates and Front Office, where needed. Manage onboarding documentation. Oversee all starters and leavers. Ensure compliance with employment documentation, right-to-work checks, and student work eligibility checks. Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems. Support the preparation of HR reports, training statistics, and compliance documentation. Provide guidance to managers and Team Members on workplace policies and procedures Assist with investigations, including performance, disciplinary processes, and grievances. Monitor staff attendance, leave records, and HR reporting. Support internal audits and ensure compliance with brand standards.
