Job Description:
Stantec is actively involved in designing and managing major projects, primarily for water industry clients. Recently, Stantec was awarded a contract on Yorkshire Water’s Storm Overflow Alliance, which involves modelling and designing wetlands, storage, and screening solutions. We are trusted to deliver major projects across the UK. This role offers an opportunity for a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with experience in managing design projects. The position can be based in any of our northern offices, including Leeds, Manchester, Warrington, or Newcastle, with hybrid working arrangements. Regular travel to Leeds may be required for meetings and workdays.
As a Project Manager, you will ensure the successful delivery of major projects, overseeing all aspects of project execution, working with technical teams, clients, and operational management to deliver design services within a multidisciplinary design & build environment. You will collaborate with leading design teams and involve clients and partners to achieve successful outcomes, creating a positive environment and leading the team to deliver value and client service excellence.
Our design & build projects involve innovative processes and techniques to deliver sustainable solutions. Our Major Projects community supports your development by providing access to Stantec’s expertise. This is a great opportunity to grow within a business experiencing significant expansion in the water industry, focusing on continuous improvement and exceeding client expectations.
About You
You should have demonstrable experience leading major projects in consultancy or contracting firms, ideally as a Project Manager, Design Manager, Project Engineer, or Project Leader. A technical background in engineering, construction management, environmental sciences, or related fields is preferred.
You will hold qualifications in engineering or project management, with a strong understanding of large, complex construction or engineering projects. Commercial and contractual knowledge, especially of NEC contracts, is essential.
You will have experience building trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders, mentoring less experienced team members, and embodying our company values, especially prioritizing people and clients.

- Managing financial and project controls for monitoring and forecasting
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders
