About the role
SZC is owned by two shareholders, EDF and HMG, through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. The shareholders' investments will evolve during the current shareholding arrangements.
The shareholders will fund SZC until Financial Close via equity, following the approved schedule and budget. SZC's main goal is to design, finance, build, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the Sizewell C nuclear power plant and related infrastructure, including activities related to hydrogen, direct air capture, and desalination in Suffolk. The current development phase aims to finalize the Capital Raise Plan, secure core supply chain contracts, and obtain necessary regulatory permits and licenses.
Previously part of EDF's Nuclear Development business, SZC is transitioning staff from EDF and independent contractors to direct employment. It aims to deliver a new nuclear power plant, from investment and funding to construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
The SZC construction program is based on replicating the technical and commercial aspects of Hinkley Point C, with EDF being a key nuclear capability supplier from its UK footprint.
