Introduction

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in you career and be part of meaningful change? If so, join the team at St Marys Hospital as a Lead Occupational Therapist.

At St Mary's Hospital you will be joining a specialised service for people with Acquired Brain Injuries.

With experience from the NHS and/or private sector, you will be responsible for managing a complex caseload using evidence-based and people-focused principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual and group interventions which will support the service users to develop their skills in self maintenance, productivity and leisure.

You will report directly to the Therapy Lead, with the opportunity to work autonomously in your running of the OT department.

With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you’ll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of online and CPD training courses to support you reach your career goals.

As a Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be:

1. Participating fully with the multidisciplinary team and encourage the service users to be fully engaged in their care pathway
2. Managing and co-ordinating the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication by the occupational therapists.
3. Ensuring the team maintains accurate and timely records detailing each patient’s rehabilitation / progress.
4. Ensuring the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.
5. Supporting clinical team working, including both direct interventions and the delivery of staff training programmes
6. Receiving and responding promptly to referrals, undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis.
7. Working to develop living skills, rehabilitation, and educational opportunities/therapies under the strategic direction of the Therapy Lead and other members of the Senior Management Team.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

8. To be qualified and registered as an Occupational Therapist
9. At least 3 years post qualifying experience.
10. Experience in assessing people with a variety of psychometrics and risk assessment tools
11. To be able to work therapeutically, engaging people in developing insight and coping skills to manage their complex needs
12. Experience in supervising and managing junior members of the team
13. A full and clean UK driving licence
Where you will be working: Location: St Mary’s Hospital, Floyd Drive, Warrington, Greater Manchester, WA28DB St Mary’s provides specialised services for people with Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI),progressive neurological conditions, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Deaf MentalHealth problems, with a layout enables you to deliver care within a low stimulus, spaciousenvironment.You will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ensure those in care are supportedto make decisions and access the community. Skills are taught and support given topromote recovery and develop confidence in order for them to live a more independentlife.
