Job Description
Equilibrium Accountants is a growing accountancy practice, who specialise in working with small owner-managed businesses and individuals. Based in York city centre, we are looking for an experienced accountant to support the practice with the preparation of statutory accounts for small limited companies, and provision of wider accountancy support to its ambitious owner-managed clients.
The practice has been entirely cloud-based since its inception and prides itself on maintaining delivering high quality services in a timely manner. We have built a reputation for being approachable, responsive and client-centric and most importantly being passionate about enabling and equipping our clients with strong financial data to help their businesses succeed.
This is a technical accounting role for someone who is preferably fully qualified (ACCA / ACA) with at least 4 years of experience in an accountancy practice.
This role would suit someone who is organised, confident, has strong IT and administrative skills, as well as technical knowledge, and is comfortable communicating with clients in person, and by phone and email, and ready to take on client management responsibilities. Knowledge and experience working with cloud-based solutions such as Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, IRIS and Sage is also required.
The Role
You will be a senior member of the delivery team, working directly alongside the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing statutory accounts for small limited companies and supporting year end processes
* Preparing corporation tax returns and personal tax computations
* Preparing and reviewing VAT return
* Producing management accounts and providing insight on key trends and potential concerns to clients
* Assisting with client onboarding and system setup
* Acting as the key point of contact for client queries and day-to-day support
* Supporting senior team members with advisory work and projects
* Progressing towards managing your own client portfolio
About you
You will preferably have at least 4 years’ experience in a practice and be either ACCA / ACA qualified or studying towards these qualifications. We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail, who has confident and professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Good IT skills, including email, spreadsheets and cloud accounting software is essential. You should also have a proactive, practical approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information and the ability to learn new processes quickly.
