About The Role

We are excited to announce an opportunity for sessional workers to join Birmingham Youth Justice Service (BYJS) in delivering intervention programmes and engaging activities for children who are open to the Youth Justice Service.

As a sessional worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children to access a range of positive activities, either in small groups or on an individual basis. This will include providing practical support in transporting children safely to their activities and delivering high-quality interventions, using a trauma informed approach to support children to achieve an increase in self-esteem and confidence to assist them to build aspirations and resilience.

This is a rewarding chance to help guide and inspire young people, offering them meaningful experiences that can shape their futures.

The position requires a minimum commitment of 6 hours per week, flexibility is important, as there will likely be times when additional hours are necessary, including the possibility of working on occasional Saturdays. Please keep in mind that the need for extra hours beyond the standard six per week is quite likely, so being adaptable to changing schedules will be essential.

We are looking for adaptable individuals who are eager to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to our supportive and dedicated team.

We have been rated as 'Good' by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.

About you:
• Work experience within the Youth Justice or related field
• Knowledge of Criminal Justice legislation, evidence-based practice and effective methods of reducing offending behaviour within a child first framework
• Have excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
• Demonstrate ability to consult with service users, identify needs and evaluate outcomes.
