The InPost Newstrade division specialises in final-mile delivery for newspaper publishers and magazine distributors, covering 75% of the UK and Ireland with a 45% market share. Operating from 36 locations, it delivers almost 1bn newspapers, magazines, and collectibles to around 21,000 customers. The division includes core final-mile operations, magazine primary distribution, corporate distribution, outsourced retail consultancy, and airside media placement.

About the role:

We are seeking a Finance Data Analyst to join the Newstrade Financial Planning & Reporting (FPR) team on a fixed-term basis. This role has been created to support additional data analysis required across our core product lines.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy, robustness, and control of processes while an automated IT solution is designed, built, and implemented. This is a high-impact role supporting a business-critical process.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Processing

* Perform complex data analysis to calculate weekly accruals.

* Prepare and deliver monthly reporting, including data validation to ensure accuracy of reporting. Prepare responses and follow up analysis for any queries received.

* Working with onboarding team to effectively and accurately scale the solution.

* Maintain and enhance robust manual models to manage complex margin structures.

Financial Accounting & Reporting

* Produce, post, and reconcile accrual journals on a weekly and monthly basis.

* Complete related balance sheet reconciliations.

Stakeholder Support & Controls

* Work closely with the FPR Business Partner to ensure processes are well-controlled, documented, and auditable.

* Support Finance, Commercial, and Operations teams with ad-hoc analysis.

* Ensure outputs are accurate, timely, and compliant with internal financial controls.

IT & Change Support

* Act as a key Finance SME supporting UAT for the future automated reporting solution.

* Validate outputs from IT testing against existing manual calculations.

* Support transition planning from manual to automated processes.

What we need from you:

* Skills & Experience Required

o 2–5 years’ experience in a finance or data analyst role

o Strong operational finance background with heavy Excel usage

o Comfortable with manual processes and high-volume data

o Advanced Excel (large datasets, pivots, lookups, nested formulas)

o Strong attention to detail and reconciliation discipline

o Ability to follow and document processes accurately

o Resilient, methodical, and deadline-driven
