SRM Recruitment are supporting a long standing client of ours in the pharma/biotech space to recruit a Group Accountant for their head office finance team (circa 2 days p/w in the office)

We are seeking a qualified ACA/CA (most likely) or ACCA/CIMA trained in practice with some commercial behind you (perhaps one role outside of practice) and are now looking for your next challenge.
Key responsibilities:
* Assist in preparing various monthly and quarterly accruals and prepayments and related journal entries across group companies including reviewing new contracts entered into
* Assist in the preparation and analysis of information form ERP systems related to Corporate tax (including UK R&D tax credits) collaborating with external tax advisors as required.
* Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations as required
* Support completion of monthly and quarterly SOX controls as required
* Assist in preparation of the quarterly financial consolidation
* Direct liaison with external auditors through the quarterly and year end close process ensuring any audit queries are managed and resolved in an effective and timely manner.
* Review and suggest improvements to financial processes and document as appropriate
What does the successful candidate look like?
The Ideal candidate will be a qualified ACA/CA or ACCA with a combination of experience within an accountancy practice environment and industry. We are expecting perhaps 3+ years of experience of financial reporting and controls experience with proven technical accounting ability, this is likely to be outside of the practice environment (perhaps 2-4 years PQE)
Additionally:
* Public company experience in a corporate accounting or reporting role with exposure to financial audits and internal control risk assessments
* Strong technical accounting skills (IFRS)
* Hands on experience of internal financial controls (ideally including SOX experience)
* Strong analytical and creative problem-solving capabilities
* Understanding of UK Corporate tax included R&D tax credits
* Experience leveraging technology (preferably also including AI) to enable efficiencies within finance
* Results focused with a proven ability to meet tight group reporting timelines
* Resilient and flexible to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
